Mini Cooper Transmission and Check Engine Light Issues

I am writing to you today with a heavy heart regarding my 2020 Mini Cooper Diesel. I'm experiencing some concerning issues: the transmission indicator light and check engine light are both illuminated. The automatic transmission is now in emergency mode, shifting erratically, slipping, and producing grinding noises. An error is stored in the memory referring to a defective radiator oil pressure. Could this be related, and could a defective cable or plug connection really be the culprit?

Oh no, that sounds like a headache! When the transmission indicator light comes on alongside the check engine light, it often points to sensor issues, or sometimes even low radiator coolant. Have you checked the radiator coolant level? It might be worth looking for any signs of leaks around the oil cooler too. Is the pressure gauge reading anything unusual?

A faulty pressure sensor definitely could be the root of your problems. It sounds like the erratic readings you're getting from the pressure gauge are a strong indicator. Given the grinding noises and shifting issues, driving it could cause further damage. I would suggest taking it to a workshop. They should be able to diagnose the cable connection and pressure sensor.

Thanks for your quick reply! I didn't check the radiator coolant level and I didn't check for any leaks around the oil cooler, but the pressure gauge reads erratic values. Could a faulty pressure sensor cause all these symptoms, including the transmission problems?

Thank you for your advice! As suspected, it turned out to be a defective cable connection to the radiator oil pressure sensor. The repair cost me 95€, and now everything is working correctly again.
