Mini Cooper transmission issues

Yes, there was grinding when shifting, especially between 2nd and 3rd gear. You mention that you had a similar issue. Was it also related to the transmission oil sensor, and if so, what did you do to fix it? Was it a big transmission repair?

Yep, sounds like the oil sensor is the culprit, triggered by low transmission oil. The grinding noise confirms it. I'm not a mechanic, so I just took it to a workshop, and they sorted it out. The error codes, emergency mode, and unclean gear shifting all point to the same thing. I'd recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic for a proper diagnosis and transmission repair before things get worse.

Just wanted to give you a heads up that you were spot on! Took my Mini Cooper to the shop and they confirmed it was indeed the transmission oil temperature sensor acting up, probably caused by low transmission oil level. They're quoting me 365€ for the transmission repair. Thanks again for your help!

Hey there, I had a similar issue with my Mini Cooper. The symptoms sound very familiar, especially the weird gear shifting and the MIL illuminating. Have you checked your transmission oil level? A faulty oil sensor often throws a code when the level is low. You mentioned the gearbox being in emergency mode - did you also experience any grinding when shifting?
