Mini Countryman engine stalls at idle

The check engine light is illuminated, and the engine stalls at idle. Furthermore, I have observed a reduction in engine power. My suspicion is that the fuel pressure regulator may be defective, perhaps due to an error entry after the recent fuel filter replacement. What could be the cause?

I understand your frustration. I had a similar issue with my previous car, a Vauxhall, although it was a petrol engine. The check engine light illuminated, and the engine experienced misfires, which resulted in reduced engine power. I would start by checking the fuel rail pressure sensor connection, as a loose connection can cause similar symptoms. Did you use genuine parts during the fuel filter replacement, or did you opt for aftermarket components?

Could a non-genuine fuel filter truly cause the fuel pressure regulator to malfunction?

The fuel rail pressure sensor connection was indeed one of the first things I checked, and it appeared to be secure. I opted for an aftermarket fuel filter, which I now regret.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It seems like the issue was indeed related to the fuel filter replacement, as suspected. It was a faulty fuel pressure regulator, and the error entry confirmed the diagnosis. Fortunately, the repair cost was only 45€. I have noticed a slight improvement in fuel efficiency, too.
