Mini Countryman Oil Level Sensor Error

My 2010 Mini Countryman diesel is showing an error related to the oil level sensor. I'm getting an error message on the speedometer, an error stored in the memory, and a warning light. Sometimes the oil pressure warning lamp even lights up. I suspect it's a cable or plug issue, but haven't found anything yet. Anyone else experience this?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Countryman. The oil monitoring system threw a fit, displaying a warning light and storing an error. Did you check the connector and wiring to the oil level sensor? That's a common culprit. Where exactly does the oil pressure warning lamp light up, at startup or while driving?

I did check the connections, but didn't find anything obvious. When you say 'similar issue', was it also the oil level sensor itself that was faulty, or something else? And the oil pressure lamp lights up intermittently, mostly when the engine is warm.

Yep, sounds very much like what I went through. Turned out the oil sensor itself was faulty and needed replacing. Given the intermittent oil pressure lamp and the warm engine correlation, I'd lean towards a failing sensor. Save yourself the headache and get it checked at a workshop.

Alright, thanks for the info. I ended up taking it to the workshop; as you suspected, it was the sensor itself. Replaced it and all is well. Total cost was 95€.
