Thanks for the quick reply. Where exactly is the outside temperature sensor located? I had a quick look but couldn't find it. And what should I look for when checking the wiring? I am not that experienced with car electrics.

The outside temperature sensor is typically located behind the front bumper, often near the fog lights or in the lower grille area. As for checking the wiring, look for any signs of physical damage to the wires themselves – cuts, frays, or exposed copper. Examine the connector for corrosion, which appears as a greenish or whitish deposit on the metal contacts. If you are not comfortable working with electrical components, I would recommend taking it to a qualified workshop to avoid causing further damage. A sensor replacement is usually straightforward.

Thanks a lot for your help. As you suggested, I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed the outside temperature sensor was faulty. They replaced it, and everything is working as it should now. The air conditioning is back on, and the error message is gone. Total cost was 95€.

I had a similar problem with my Countryman. The symptoms you describe are indicative of a faulty outside temperature sensor. The sensor provides data used by multiple systems, hence the varied issues you are experiencing. The air conditioning system relies on this temperature monitoring to regulate its operation, and the mirror heating is also linked. Have you checked the sensor's wiring and connector? A visual inspection might reveal corrosion or damage.
