Mini One Active Hood Fault

Okay, so I'm getting this really annoying "Active hood fault" message on my 2020 Mini One, the diesel one. The airbag light is also on in the speedometer, and the error memory has a fault stored. Apparently, the spring actuators have even been triggered! I'm thinking it has something to do with the car electronics or pedestrian safety system. I read somewhere it could be a defective acceleration sensor. Anyone else had this happen? I'm trying to avoid a huge bill. I've heard the repair cost may be around 315€

Whoa, that active hood thing sounds scary! It's like your Mini thinks it's about to crash into something all the time. I'm no expert, but could it be a problem with one of the impact sensors? Maybe a loose connection or something? Is the hood latch itself working correctly?

Impact sensor, huh? I never would have thought of that! Where exactly are those located? And how would I check the hood latch? I mean, it seems to close okay, but I don't really know what I'm looking for.

Okay, yeah, acceleration sensor makes sense now that the spring actuators have been triggered. That's a safety system thing related to pedestrian safety. If those have been triggered, it's probably not just a loose wire. I'd say you're probably looking at replacing the impact sensor. Honestly, with airbag lights and all that, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. Car electronics can be tricky, and you don't want to mess with the safety system!

Wow, thanks a bunch for all the help! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on! It was the acceleration sensor. They replaced it, and the total cost was 315€. Now the error is gone, the airbag light is off, and hopefully, the active hood works as it should. I appreciate you helping me figure this out!
