Mini One Diesel Cylinder Pressure Fluctuation

My 2013 Mini One diesel is throwing up some concerning symptoms. I'm seeing higher fuel consumption and a noticeable drop in engine power, and the check engine light is now constantly illuminated. I've scanned the OBD and it's reporting cylinder pressure fluctuation. I'm aware that this can be a symptom, a consequential error resulting from another error. Before I start tearing things apart, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue? I've already checked the basics like the head gasket, but I'm hesitant to dive into things like the crankshaft without some guidance.

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Mini One. Check engine light, reduced power, the whole shebang. Have you checked the intake manifold? Could be a vacuum leak. Also, when was the last time you replaced your spark plugs?

Thanks, that's helpful. When you say vacuum leak, did you notice any specific symptoms? The spark plugs are relatively new, but how would that affect cylinder pressure? And finally, did you ever experience bad timing belt symptoms?

Yeah, I had a noticeable hissing sound, and the engine was idling rough. Regarding the spark plugs, if they're not firing correctly, it can definitely mess with the cylinder pressure. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop, they’ll have the right tools to diagnose it properly.

Just wanted to follow up on this thread. Took your advice and brought my Mini One to a workshop. Turns out the cylinder pressure fluctuation was a consequential error due to a faulty sensor. They replaced it, and everything's running smoothly now. Zero cost. Thanks for the insight!
