How did you confirm the exhaust back pressure sensor was faulty? Is there a way to test it without specialized equipment?

Unfortunately, without diagnostic equipment, it's difficult to confirm the sensor definitively. The fault codes will point to the issue, but the sensor's readings need to be checked. The workshop confirmed that the DPF issues I was experiencing were due to the sensor not sending the correct data to the ECU, thus preventing DPF regeneration from occurring. I recommend taking it to a workshop that can properly diagnose the emission control system.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I took the Mini One to a workshop and they confirmed it was the exhaust back pressure sensor. Replacing it cost me 245€, and now everything is working fine again.

I had similar DPF issues with my Mini. Reduced engine power and a strong exhaust smell sound familiar. Have you checked the exhaust back pressure sensor? A defective sensor can cause the particulate filter to not regenerate properly. When was the last time you performed a DPF regeneration? If the differential pressure across the particulate filter is incorrect, it could be preventing proper emission control and causing your symptoms.
