Mini One diesel preheating lamp issue

I'm experiencing a rather concerning issue with my 2018 Mini One diesel. The preheating lamp remains illuminated, and an error is stored in the error memory, strongly suggesting a glow plug failure. This seems like the most likely cause, but I wanted to consult expertise before committing to a repair. Has anyone else faced this? I'm rather worried about potential damage from driving it in its current state until I can get it fixed. I'm anticipating a 440€ repair bill. Currently I have a check engine situation. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar issue with my Mini One. The engine light was on, and I noticed a slight rough idle especially during cold start. I also felt the fuel efficiency decreased, or maybe it was just me. Did you run a diagnostic check? What error code did it throw?

Yes, the error memory shows a glow plug fault. The preheating lamp doesn't turn off, and I've noticed a slightly rough idle too. So, when you had this issue, was it definitely the glow plugs? Did replacing them resolve the problem completely?

Yes, in my case, replacing the faulty glow plugs fixed the problem. The check engine light went off, the rough idle disappeared, and the fuel efficiency returned. However, I would recommend taking your Mini One to a workshop for a proper diagnosis and repair. Glow plugs can be tricky, and it's best to leave it to the professionals.

Just wanted to give an update. The workshop confirmed it was indeed a defective glow plug. They replaced it, and everything seems to be running smoothly now. The final bill came to 440€. Thanks again for your help!
