Mini One Diesel Sun Blind Issue

I'm encountering a rather frustrating issue with the sun blind on my 2019 Mini One Diesel. The sun blind, which is an integral car interior accessory, has ceased to function correctly. Specifically, it no longer retracts or extends, and it consistently gets stuck in one position. Moreover, an error is stored in the error memory related to this malfunction. From my understanding, the most likely culprit is a defective motor within the sun blind assembly. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? Based on my research, the eventual repair cost could be around 330€. I would appreciate any insights or advice you may have before I proceed with replacing the entire sun blind unit.

I had a similar issue with my Mini One's sun blind. The car sunshade got stuck halfway, and I couldn't retract it. Did you check the fuse box? Maybe the fuse for the interior accessory is blown. It's a simple thing to check before assuming the motor is faulty. Also, does it make any noise when you try to operate it, or is it completely dead?

Thank you for the suggestion! I've already checked all the relevant fuses, and they appear to be in perfect working order. Regarding the noise, there is a faint whirring sound emanating from the sun blind area when I attempt to operate it. It almost sounds like the motor is struggling, but it's definitely receiving power. Is this consistent with the symptoms you experienced when your window visor failed?

Yes, the faint whirring sound is exactly what I experienced before the sun blind completely gave up. In my case, there was nothing I could do myself and I had to go to the workshop. They replaced the motor, and it's been working fine ever since. It's likely the motor then, and the 330€ sounds reasonable for the repair, considering it involves taking apart the headliner to access the sun blind.

Thank you for confirming my suspicion. I decided to bite the bullet and visited a workshop. As expected, the sun blind motor was indeed defective. The repair, including parts and labor, set me back 330€. Now, my Mini's car interior is complete again, and I can fully enjoy the window visor without worrying about it getting stuck. Replacing the sun blind assembly seems to have rectified the issue.
