Mini One No Start Terminal Ignition Error

My 2005 Mini One just hit 112060 km and now the car won't start. Error memory says 'Terminal 15 ignition positive interrupted'. Suspect it's a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone seen this before? I'm seeing a potential 95€ repair bill.

Terminal 15 issues can be tricky. I experienced something similar with my old Volvo, although the symptoms were slightly different. The car would crank, but not fire up. Have you checked the voltage at the battery terminal itself? A corroded connection there can cause all sorts of weird electrical problems. Also, is the error code persistent, or does it clear and then reappear? A flaky relay switch could also be the culprit, causing an intermittent circuit break. It might be worth checking the relevant fuses too, just in case. I am not sure if it will help, but maybe it's a start.

Interesting. So, with your Volvo, was it a complete no-start situation as well? And when you say 'relevant fuses', which ones exactly should I be checking?

Yes, it was a complete no-start for the Volvo. Regarding the fuses, you should check the ones related to the ignition system and the engine control unit (ECU). The exact fuse numbers will be in your owner's manual. However, given the error message and the cost estimate, it does sound like a wiring harness issue is more probable. I would advise to take it to a workshop.

It was indeed a defective cable as suspected. They replaced a section of the wiring harness and the car is running fine now. Thanks for the input.
