Mini Paceman Diesel Engine Stalling Issue

Alright, so my 2015 Mini Paceman diesel is playing up. The check engine light keeps coming on, and sometimes the engine just stalls when I'm stopped at lights. I've read something about a defective activated charcoal filter causing similar problems, and that it could be related to emission control. Could that be it? Any ideas?

That sounds frustrating. I had a similar issue with my Mini Cooper. Check engine light kept popping up, and the engine would occasionally stall, especially when idling at traffic lights. From what you describe, it could be related to the EVAP system, specifically a leak in the fuel tank ventilation. Have you noticed any difference in air flow?

EVAP system, huh? I've heard that term thrown around. So, you think it's something to do with the fuel tank ventilation? And what do you mean about the air flow? Is there anything I can check myself, before taking it to the mechanic?

Yes, it does sound like a ventilation problem. In my case, it was the purge valve. It was causing the air fuel mixture to be off. If it is the charcoal filter, unfortunately, it is not something you can easily fix yourself. It's part of the EVAP system, which is responsible for emission control. I would recommend taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed. They should be able to confirm the issue and replace the faulty component.

Took the Paceman to the workshop. Turns out it was the charcoal filter, just like you suspected. New one fitted, check engine light is gone, and it's running smooth again. Cost me 275€, but at least it's sorted. Thanks a bunch for your help!
