Mini Paceman low tire pressure and steering issues
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Mini Paceman experienced low tire pressure, causing the ABS light to remain on and unusual steering vibrations. The suspected cause was a defective valve leading to rapid pressure loss. A professional diagnosis confirmed a faulty valve, which was replaced, resolving the low tire pressure warning and steering issues.

That's interesting; your description mirrors my experience. I did recently inflate tires because I had low tire pressure on two tires. Could a faulty valve stem cause such a rapid pressure loss and trigger the other symptoms, or would the air leak have to be more substantial?

Okay, since you inflated tires the car recently, and you're still seeing rapid pressure loss, a faulty valve stem is a strong possibility. On my Volvo, it was a slow air leak at first, but it gradually got worse. The steering issue and ABS light are likely secondary effects due to the pressure differences affecting the wheel speed sensors. Honestly, I'd suggest a professional diagnosis. A workshop can easily check for valve leaks and properly diagnose the root cause.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It seems like the issue may indeed be valve related. I took the Paceman to a trusted workshop, and they confirmed a defective valve causing pressure loss and an air leak. I have inflated tires in the meantime. The repair, including a new valve, cost 280€. Now the low tire pressure warning is gone and the steering issue too.

Whoa, that sounds rough. A similar thing happened to me with my old Volvo, though it didn't throw an ABS light. I kept getting a low tire warning, and the steering felt heavier, almost like the power steering was cutting out intermittently. Did you recently inflate tires? Is the tire pressure the same on all tires? Check for any signs of damage on the tires themselves. Sometimes, a small nail or screw can cause a slow leak, and it's hard to spot.
