Mini Paceman Radio Reception Problem

Alright, I'm having a frustrating issue with the car radio in my 2014 Mini Paceman. It's got about 106225 kilometers on the clock. The radio reception is just awful – constant static noise and sometimes the infotainment system throws up an error message. The audio system even cuts out completely at times. I ran a diagnostic and it shows an error stored in the memory related to antenna signal. I'm suspecting a defective antenna, but wanted to get some opinions before I start tearing things apart. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Any tips on troubleshooting?

I had a similar issue with my Paceman. The radio reception was terrible, lots of static noise, and the infotainment system kept displaying error messages. I would suggest checking the antenna ground connection. A loose or corroded ground can cause poor signal. Also, does your car have an antenna booster? That could be the culprit too. Have you noticed any pattern, like it being worse in certain areas?

Thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly is the antenna ground connection located? And how would I check the antenna booster? Never messed with those before. Is it something I can do myself, or is it best to leave it to a professional?

Okay, so my issue was definitely the antenna itself. The ground connection seemed fine, and the booster was working. The workshop confirmed the antenna was faulty. Given that you already have an error code pointing to the antenna, and you're not familiar with the booster or ground, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can diagnose it properly and replace the antenna if needed. It'll save you the headache of potentially causing more damage.

Just wanted to give you an update. As suspected, the antenna was indeed defective. I bit the bullet and had it replaced. The total cost came to 255€. Radio is crystal clear now! Thanks a bunch for your help!
