Mini Paceman Rain Light Sensor Issue

Thanks for your reply I did inspect the rain-light sensor, and now that you mention it, I do see some small bubbles under the gel pad. I didn’t realize that could cause so much trouble with the car electronics. Is that something that can be fixed, or does the entire sensor need to be replaced Also, do you know if any sensor calibration is required after replacing it

Yes, the bubbles are almost certainly the culprit. Unfortunately, there isn't a reliable fix for the gel pad issue it's best to replace the entire rain-light sensor. As for sensor calibration, it’s highly recommended after replacement to ensure it functions correctly with the car's system. I would suggest taking it to a workshop they should be able to handle the replacement and sensor calibration efficiently.

I wanted to give you a quick update. I took my Mini Paceman to the workshop, and they confirmed it was indeed the rain-light sensor. The bubbles under the gel pad were causing all sorts of issues with the car electronics, just like you said. They replaced the sensor, and everything is working perfectly now automatic wipers, headlights, and even the speedometer dimming. The entire repair cost 62€. Thank you again for your help and insight It saved me a lot of time and potential misdiagnosis.

That sounds very familiar I had a similar sensor fault issue with my Mini Paceman. The symptoms you describe especially the rain sensor and headlight issues are spot on. Have you checked the sensor itself, particularly the gel pad that sits against the windshield Sometimes bubbles can form there, interfering with the sensor's ability to read properly. It's a common problem with these auto sensors. Does the error message specify anything more detailed about the car components involved
