Mini Paceman sound system problems
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Mini Paceman's sound system went completely silent, affecting the radio and Bluetooth functions. An error code suggested a defective display as the cause. Possible solutions discussed included checking fuses and the presence of a separate amplifier. Ultimately, the issue was confirmed to be a defective display, which was repaired at a cost, restoring the sound system's functionality.

I haven't checked the fuses myself. Where would I find the fuse box, and how do I know which fuse is for the audio system? Also, I'm not sure if my Paceman has a separate amplifier. Is there a way to tell?

Okay, so the fuse box is usually located either in the glove compartment, under the dashboard on the driver's side, or sometimes in the engine bay. There should be a diagram either on the fuse box cover itself or in your owner's manual which tells you what each fuse is for. As for the amplifier, some cars have a separate amp that powers the car speakers, especially if you have a upgraded sound system. It's usually located under one of the seats or in the trunk. But honestly, if the shop already diagnosed it as a defective display and there's an error code, it might be best to just take it back to them. If it's the display itself, it is very hard to fix.

Just wanted to update this thread. The workshop confirmed it was a defective display, just like they suspected. Cost me 725€ to get it fixed, but at least my sound system is working again. Thanks for the help!

Ugh, that sounds frustrating! I had a somewhat similar thing happen with my old car, though it wasn’t a Mini. Have you checked the fuses related to the audio system? Sometimes a blown fuse can knock out the whole thing. Also, does your car have a separate amplifier for the sound system? If so, maybe that's the culprit. Where did you get the error code read from?
