Mini Roadster Air Suspension Problems

I'm officially pulling my hair out. My 2012 Mini Roadster diesel is giving me grief. The air suspension seems to have given up the ghost – the car won't lift, it's leaning like a Pisa tower, and I've got an error message glaring at me from the speedometer. The ride is so bumpy, it feels like the wheels are square. Error memory suggests a defective air suspension bellows valve. Anyone else had this happen?

Hey there, I had something similar happen on my Mini Roadster. The car was leaning to one side, and the ride felt like I was driving a buckboard wagon. Have you checked for any obvious signs of an air leak around the suspension system? Sometimes you can hear a hissing sound, or even feel air escaping if you get close enough. It could be a simple fix, like a loose connection, but more likely it's the air bag valve. Does the error message specify which corner of the suspension is the problem?

Thanks for the quick reply! I didn't notice any hissing, but I wasn't really looking for it either. The error message just says 'Air suspension fault.' How did you pinpoint the exact problem with yours? Was it definitely the valve, or could it be something else in the suspension system?

Yeah, the 'Air suspension fault' message is about as helpful as a chocolate teapot. In my case, it turned out to be the valve. The mechanic used some soapy water to check for leaks, like you would with a tire. It wasn't a massive leak, but enough to cause the system to fail. If you're not comfortable poking around yourself, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly and tell you for sure what's going on with the suspension issue. It could be the shock absorber, but with those symptoms, it really does sound like an air leak.

Update on my Mini Roadster air suspension issue: you were spot on. Took it to a local garage, and it was indeed the air suspension bellows valve. 590€ later, and it's all sorted. Thanks a bunch for your help!
