Mini Roadster Alarm System Issues

I'm pulling my hair out here! My 2015 Mini Roadster is throwing a fit. The alarm system is completely dead, and the error memory keeps logging a 'defective additional battery alarm system' error. I'm guessing it's probably a battery signal issue and the car battery is getting old, but has anyone else run into this? A quick search suggests that the likely cause is the battery being discharged due to ageing. Anyone got any ideas before I throw money at it?

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my Mini Roadster alarm system going haywire. Kept getting a weird battery signal too. Does your car struggle to start sometimes, or do you notice any other electrical gremlins? Mine turned out to be a dead auxiliary battery. Maybe worth checking out?

That's interesting! You mentioned an auxiliary battery. Where exactly is that located, and is it something I could potentially test myself with a multimeter, or is it better left to the pros?

Yeah, definitely sounds like the same problem. The auxiliary battery is a pain to get to, honestly. I wouldn't mess with it too much yourself unless you're super confident with electrical stuff. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop; they can properly diagnose it and replace the battery if needed.

Just wanted to let you know how things went. Turns out it was the auxiliary battery, just like you suspected. Got it replaced, cleared the error code, and now the alarm system is back in business. Cost me about 330€. Thanks again for the heads up!
