Mini Roadster Coolant Loss Issue

I am writing to inquire about a problem I've encountered with my 2012 Mini Roadster diesel. The coolant level is consistently too low, necessitating frequent top-ups. The check engine light illuminates intermittently. I suspect a coolant leak, but a preliminary inspection has not revealed any obvious sources. Could this potentially indicate a more serious issue, such as a compromised head gasket?

Low coolant is never good. I had a similar issue with my Mini (same model). Check your radiator hoses and coolant reservoir for any visible signs of a coolant leak. Have you noticed any unusual smells, like radiator fluid, inside or outside the car?

Yeah, my error memory also pointed to a sensor issue which they initially suspected. But after pressure testing the system, they found a tiny crack in a hose connection. It was so small, it was hard to spot. Given your error message and the fact you can't find a leak yourself, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed. Could save you a lot of hassle in the long run.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did a visual inspection, but I couldn't spot any obvious coolant leak around the radiator hoses or the coolant reservoir. The check engine light comes on, and the error memory indicates a cable or plug connection of the component is defective. Did your error memory show a similar error?

Just a quick update: Took the Roadster to the workshop. Turns out it was indeed a defective plug connection as suspected. Repair cost was 95€. Thanks for your input; it was spot on.
