Mini Roadster crankshaft camshaft error

Good point about the timing belt. It was replaced about km ago. Is there anything specific about the timing belt I should be looking for? And regarding aftermarket crank sensors, what kind of problems should I expect besides just misfire?

Ah, km on the timing belt - that should be fine. As for aftermarket crank sensors… some cheaper ones can have incorrect tolerances or are more susceptible to heat and electrical interference, leading to intermittent signals. That intermittent signal throws off engine synchronization. It then causes misfires and can even damage the crankshaft itself. If you are unsure, I would recommend taking it to a workshop before causing more damage.

Just wanted to close the loop. You were spot on about the crank sensor. Replaced it, and the engine synchronization error is gone. Runs like a champ now. Thanks for the help!

Crankshaft to camshaft reference value issues, huh? The Mini's throwing a fit with that error code. Check engine light is on, power's reduced, and fuel consumption's gone up? Sounds like a lovely combination. Are you sure the timing belt is in good condition? Was the crank sensor the original part? These cars can be finicky about aftermarket sensors, sometimes causing misfire issues.
