Mini Roadster Cruise Control Issue

I am experiencing an issue with the cruise control on my 2015 Mini Roadster Diesel. The cruise control function has ceased to operate, and an error is stored in the error memory. Based on initial diagnostics, a defective cable or plug connection of the component is the likely cause. What is the proper procedure for troubleshooting this issue?
