Mini Roadster diesel particulate filter problem

That's interesting. I was initially focused on the pressure sensor because of the error code. However, you raise a fair point about the particulate filter itself. How did you determine that the DPF was the root cause in your case, or was it something else? Did you resolve the problem yourself?

In my case, the symptoms were extremely similar to what you describe. I recall a strong exhaust smell, which my mechanic thought may indicate a blocked particulate filter causing the diesel engine to run rich. Because of the DPF issues, the suggestion was to take it to a workshop. I am uncertain if this is helpful, but a blocked particulate filter can stress the pressure sensor.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It does seem like a plausible explanation. I took the Mini Roadster to a workshop, and after inspection, the exhaust back pressure sensor was identified as the culprit. The repairs, including parts and labor, amounted to 245€. Now the engine runs smoothly again.

I may have encountered something similar with my Mini, although it is difficult to say for certain. I had a warning light and some power loss. Have you considered the diesel particulate filter itself? Perhaps it is clogged, preventing proper exhaust flow? Have you noticed if DPF regeneration occurs often? Perhaps the pressure sensor is not the primary issue, but it reports a problem further along the exhaust system.
