The grinding started pretty suddenly, and yes, my fuel economy has taken a hit. How did you resolve your issue? Was it definitely the torque converter?

Given the sudden onset and fuel economy drop, it really does sound like the torque converter. In my case, the workshop confirmed it, and replacing the converter solved everything. I'd suggest getting it professionally diagnosed to be sure, but prepare for a potential transmission repair bill.

Thanks for the insight. I took it to the workshop, and you were right – torque converter failure. Repair cost was 2120€. Appreciate the help!

MISTRA

I have a Mistra, and those symptoms sound eerily familiar. Mine was doing similar things a while back. Did the grinding noises start suddenly, or did it gradually get worse? Also, have you noticed any difference in fuel economy?
