Mobi Fault Memory Lock

Super frustrated with my 2021 Fiat Mobi, it's got a gasoline engine. I've racked up 129908 km, and now the diagnostics are showing a 'Fault memory lock active'. Basically, there's an error stored in the error memory, but I can't seem to clear it or figure out what triggered it. I've read online that undervoltage in the vehicle could be the culprit. Has anyone dealt with this? I'm not super car-savvy, so any help would be appreciated!

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Fiat Mobi with a gasoline engine and 129,908 km is showing a 'Fault memory lock active' error, which cannot be cleared. This issue may be caused by undervoltage in the vehicle, possibly due to a weak battery during cold weather. The suggested solution is to seek assistance from a qualified workshop, as specialized software and hardware are needed to reset the ECU and resolve the memory lock issue.

Greetings. I encountered a similar issue with my 2018 Opel Corsa a while back. The error code indicated a memory lock within the ECU, preventing further diagnostics or resets. The error appeared after a period where the car battery was weak due to cold weather. Could you provide more detail regarding any recent incidents that might have led to a drop in voltage within your Fiat's electrical system? For instance, have you experienced any difficulty starting the engine, or have you left the lights on for an extended duration?

Thanks for the reply! That's interesting about the battery. Now that you mention it, I did have a couple of mornings where the car struggled to start, especially last week when it was unusually cold. I didn't think much of it at the time, just figured it was a bit sluggish. But the ECU fault showed up right after that. When you had the issue with your Opel, were there any other symptoms besides the error code? Did you manage to fix it yourself, or did you need to take it to a workshop?

Affirmative, the symptoms were primarily limited to the error code and a general sense that the car's electronics were not operating at peak efficiency. Given the complexity of modern automotive ECUs and the potential for further complications, I would advise against attempting a DIY repair. In my case, the memory lock required specialized software and hardware to reset the control unit. It is prudent to seek assistance from a qualified workshop. They should be able to diagnose the underlying cause of the undervoltage and rectify the memory lock issue.

Okay, that makes sense. I was hoping it would be a simple fix, but I guess I'll take it to a workshop then. Thanks a lot for your help and sharing your experience with the Opel, it's good to know that someone else had the same issue. The workshop confirmed it was due to undervoltage and they had to reset the ECU, the bill came to around 240€. Now the error is gone and everything seems to be working fine!
