Mobilio Alarm Error

My 2022 Honda Mobilio diesel is throwing a curveball. Mileage is at 35060 km. The anti-theft alarm system seems totally bonkers. I'm getting an error stored in the memory, and the alarm itself is completely non-functional. Could this be the immobilizer screwing around? I was poking around with VCDS and noticed something about the alarm system being coded to activate the optical locking (indicators flashing) - could that be the culprit? Anyone seen this before?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Honda Mobilio diesel with 35,060 km is experiencing issues with its anti-theft alarm system, which is non-functional and showing an error in the memory. The problem may be related to the immobilizer or incorrect coding of the alarm system, specifically concerning the optical locking feature. A suggested solution is to check for trouble codes related to the alarm control module and inspect the siren's wiring for corrosion. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by recoding the alarm system at a garage, correcting the optical locking activation error.

Sounds like a possible coding error. Happened to my old CR-V once after a battery change. Have you tried scanning specifically for trouble codes related to the alarm control module? And does the Mobilio have a separate siren for the alarm, or does it use the car's horn? If separate, check its wiring harness for corrosion; Hondas can be fussy about clean power and ground.

Thanks for the swift reply! I did scan specifically for the alarm module, and that's where the 'error stored in error memory' came from – annoyingly vague, right? How can I identify the siren, and is there a typical location for this module or any relays?

Yeah, those generic errors drive me nuts. As for the siren, if it’s separate, it will often be tucked up under the hood, maybe near the windshield washer fluid reservoir or possibly behind the wheel well liner. Worth a look. Realistically though, if it’s coded wrong with dealer level diagnostic systems the repair will be reasonably priced from you local workshop, I would suggest this.

Appreciate the advice. I took it to my usual garage and you were spot on! They recoded the alarm, said it was indeed activating the optical locking incorrectly. Cost me 45€ and the car is 100% again. Thanks again!
