Mobilio exhaust flap issue

I have a 2021 Honda Mobilio with a gasoline engine and 205121 km. I think there's a problem with the exhaust flaps. I'm getting an error, the exhaust is louder than usual, and the engine is noisy on cold starts. Could the exhaust flap be defective? Any thoughts on the flap actuator or motor and how they affect engine performance, or if an exhaust blockage could cause this?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Honda Mobilio owner reported issues with the exhaust system, including error codes, increased exhaust noise, and engine noise during cold starts, suspecting a defective exhaust flap. Possible causes discussed included a faulty flap actuator or motor and potential exhaust blockage. A suggestion was made to visually inspect for broken or disconnected components and consider professional diagnosis. The problem was confirmed by a workshop, identifying a defective exhaust flap that required replacement.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Whoa, that's a lot of kilometers for a 2021! Louder exhaust and error codes definitely point to something being wrong. Is it consistently loud, or just at certain RPMs? Could be a flap actuator issue like you suspect, those things are notorious for failing. Have you tried visually inspecting the exhaust components to see if anything looks obviously broken or disconnected? It's a long shot, but worth a peek before you dive too deep.

Thanks for the quick reply. The exhaust is consistently loud, no matter the RPM. Can you give me more detail on what to look for during a visual inspection? What are the signs of a failing actuator or exhaust damage I should watch for? Are there any electrical tests to check the flap motor?

Okay, consistent loudness rules out some vibration-related issues. Honestly, without getting too involved with multimeters and wiring diagrams (which can get messy), it's tough to diagnose an actuator definitively at home. Look for obvious things like a physically broken linkage arm connecting the motor to the flap, or a corroded connector going to the motor. But since it's throwing an error code AND it's loud, I'd bet money on the flap being stuck open due to a failed actuator. Seriously, save yourself the headache and get it checked at a reliable workshop.

I appreciate the advice. I took it to a local workshop, and they confirmed the exhaust flap was defective and needed replacement. It cost 190€. Thanks for saving me from a long, complicated self-diagnosis.
