Mobilio preheating lamp issue

My 2022 Honda Mobilio diesel has a weird issue. The preheating lamp won't switch off, and the check engine light is on. I've also noticed some smoke when accelerating. It's got almost 150,000 km on the clock. I read online it might be a defective preheating control unit. Has anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Honda Mobilio diesel owner reported an issue where the preheating lamp wouldn't switch off, accompanied by the check engine light and smoke during acceleration. The problem was suspected to be a defective preheating control unit. A suggestion was made to inspect the cable or plug connection for any damage or corrosion. Upon visiting a workshop, it was confirmed that a defective cable was the cause, and after repair, the warning lights and smoke issue were resolved.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra, though it was a petrol engine. The glow plug light (that's the preheating lamp for diesels) stayed on, indicating a problem with the car electronics that manages the preheating. Did you check the cable or plug connection of the preheating unit? That was the cause of the issue in my Astra.

Thanks! Where exactly is the preheating unit located in the Mobilio? And how do I check the cable or plug connection? I'm not super tech-savvy, so be gentle with the jargon!

Okay, so the location varies depending on the car model, but usually it's somewhere near the engine block. As for checking the cable and plug, it’s more about visual inspection. Look for any corrosion, loose connections, or damaged wires. But honestly, if you're not comfortable with car electronics, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They can diagnose the problem properly. I ended up doing that with my Astra and it turns out the diagnosis was correct.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I went to the workshop, and they confirmed it was indeed a defective cable. Repair cost me 95€. All the warning lights are off now, and the smoking is gone! Really appreciate the help!
