Modus automatic transmission failure

I'm experiencing a concerning issue with my 2007 Renault Modus, gasoline engine. At 206743 km, the automatic transmission seems to be failing. The check engine light and transmission indicator are illuminated. I'm noticing gearbox slippage, unclean shifts, and grinding noises during gear changes. Diagnostic scans reveal an error indicative of a defective torque converter lock-up clutch. Could a faulty automatic transmission converter be the culprit?

Sounds nasty! I had similar symptoms on my Modus. Felt like driving through molasses, especially going uphill. Check engine light was on too. I'd bet it is the torque converter.

Thank you for your response! Could you elaborate on your experience? Did you also experience grinding noises? Was the error code the same? What did you do to fix it?

Yep, the grinding was there, especially when it tried to 'lock up.' It's like when you try to force two gears together on a push bike. Honestly? Just get it to a transmission specialist. It cost me a pretty penny (2120€), but now it runs like new. You don't want to try and DIY this, trust me.

I appreciate the advice and confirmation. I feared as much. I'll take it to a reputable workshop as soon as possible. Thank you for sharing your experience; it's incredibly helpful to know I'm not alone facing this issue.
