Modus Control Module Error
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Renault Modus owner encountered an error message related to the control module, displayed on both the infotainment and speedometer. The issue was suspected to be due to incorrect vehicle coding, as indicated by a scan tool. Despite attempts to reset the codes, the error persisted, suggesting a deeper coding or control module issue rather than a faulty sensor. The recommended solution was to consult a Renault specialist for proper diagnostics and correction, which ultimately resolved the problem through a coding adjustment.

Thanks. No recent work on the ECU or electronics, which is puzzling. I've reset the codes multiple times, but the error reappears immediately. Could a faulty sensor trigger this, or is it almost certainly a coding issue if the error returns so quickly?

Given that the error returns immediately after resetting, and you haven't had any recent work done, it strongly suggests a coding or deeper control module issue. A faulty sensor could theoretically cause this, but the fact that it's displaying across multiple systems makes that less likely. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop that specializes in Renault diagnostics. They'll have the proper tools and software to delve deeper into the control module's coding and pinpoint the exact cause.

I appreciate the advice. Sounds like I've exhausted my options. I'll schedule an appointment with a Renault workshop to investigate the control module's coding. It was indeed incorrect vehicle coding. The workshop corrected it, costing me 360€ Thank you again for your help.

That's a fairly common issue. Sounds like a coding problem with the control module, especially given the symptoms. Have you had any work done on the car recently, perhaps involving the ECU or any other electronic components? A software update gone wrong could also trigger such a problem. Did you try resetting the codes to see if that helps?
