Modus electrical malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Renault Modus is experiencing electrical issues, including a persistent error message and a non-functional navigation system. Diagnostics indicate a problem with the control unit programming. A suggested solution is a software reset, which requires professional diagnostic equipment and expertise, as it involves re-flashing the control unit. Booking an appointment with a technician is recommended to address the issue.

Thanks! Could you explain how to do a software reset? I know a bit about car diagnostics, but I'd like more detail to make sure I do it right.

The workshop did my software reset. The technician used diagnostic equipment to re-flash the control unit. It's complex and risky, so I wouldn't try it yourself without the right tools and knowledge. The error memory and navigation issue suggest a bigger problem than a simple reset can solve. It will probably cost around 240€.

Thanks for the advice. I'll book an appointment with a technician to sort out the software issue, based on what you've said and the potential cost.

I had similar issues with my Modus. Electrical gremlins are a pain. Have you tried a software reset to clear the error memory? It might fix it, especially if the control unit programming is the problem. I had a software bug in the navigation system and a reset fixed it.
