Modus high fuel consumption and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Renault Modus owner reported high fuel consumption, engine stalling at idle, and the check engine light being on, along with smoke during acceleration. These symptoms suggested a potential issue with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the MAF sensor was indeed the problem, and replacing it resolved the issues.

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't scanned for codes yet. Where is the MAF sensor located, and is it difficult to replace?

It's usually located in the air intake system, close to the air filter box. While you could try replacing it yourself, given the other symptoms, I'd advise a workshop visit. Might save you some headaches in the long run.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the shop, and you were right – MAF sensor was the culprit. Repair cost was 365€. Runs much better now.

Hey, I had similar issues with my Modus. Check engine light, poor fuel economy, and occasional stalling. Sounds like it could be your MAF sensor. Have you scanned for error codes?
