Modus oxygen sensor heater fault

Hey, my 2004 Renault Modus with a gasoline engine is giving me headaches. The check engine light is on, and the error memory says something about the oxygen sensor heater. I think it's faulty, because my fuel consumption went up, too. I checked the cable and plug, and they look ok. Anyone else had this happen? Is it like a fuse box issue?

I had something similar with my Modus. Check engine light, too. It could be the oxygen sensor itself, or as you mentioned, a wiring problem. Did you check the sensor connection thoroughly? Sometimes they look fine, but the pins inside are corroded, like a rusty pipe.

Good point! I visually inspected it, but didn't really go deeper. Was it definitely the oxygen sensor in your case? And if so, how did you figure it out?

Well, the error code pointed to the oxygen sensor heater circuit, and the mechanic confirmed it with some fancy diagnostic tools. It's probably best to get it checked at a workshop. In the end, a faulty sensor is a faulty sensor.

Thanks! I appreciate the advice. I'll take it to a workshop and get it checked. I was hoping for an easy fix, but it seems like that's not going to happen. They quoted me 95€, so it won't break the bank.
