Modus Rail Pressure Sensor Issues

Thanks, that's helpful. I haven't checked the fuel filter yet. However, wouldn't a clogged filter cause issues at higher engine speeds too, not just at idle? I'm asking because the car drives relatively ok at higher speeds, it's mostly at idle when it starts shuddering, and sometimes it cuts out.

That's a fair point. You are right, usually, a clogged fuel filter would impact performance across the board. However, the sensor itself is the most likely culprit given your symptoms. Given the potential sensitivity and risk of damaging your fuel injection system, I would advise against tinkering too much. It is probably best to visit a workshop for diagnostics.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the shop as suggested. Indeed the rail pressure sensor was faulty. Got it replaced. Cost 240€. Problem solved.

Hi there. I had similar problems with my old 2012 Opel Astra diesel engine. The symptoms you describe sound very much like the issues I encountered. The engine stalling, especially at idle, and the reduced power are classic signs. It could indeed be the rail pressure sensor, but like a plumbing system, the 'pressure' problem might be caused by something else. Have you checked the fuel filter recently? A clogged filter can sometimes mimic a faulty sensor.
