Modus water-in-fuel sensor fault
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Renault Modus diesel is experiencing a check engine light due to a water-in-fuel sensor malfunction, causing the engine to run slightly rough. The wiring harness and plug appear intact, but a similar issue was resolved by addressing a loose connection inside the sensor's plug. It is suggested to inspect the connector closely for any intermittent faults or have a professional diagnose and fix potential cable breaks.

Cheers for the tip. When you say dodgy connection, was it visibly corroded or more of an intermittent fault? I've had the plug off and back on, but maybe I need a closer inspection.

No visible corrosion, just a loose connection inside the plug itself, it seems. Couldn't fix it myself, the garage located a cable break and fixed it. Cost around 95€.

Thanks for the follow-up. Sounds like I'm chasing a similar gremlin. Will get it booked in for diagnostics then. Hopefully, it turns out to be a simple fix like yours.

I had similar symptoms on my Modus. Check the sensor's connector again, wiggle it and see if the light goes off. Might just be a dodgy connection. Mine was a pain to diagnose.
