Indeed, a faint whirring sound is present, coinciding with the observed malfunction. Is this failure common, and what was the extent of the damage in your case?

Well, the whirring is a big clue. If the belt-handover isn't working and you're hearing that noise, I'd bet it's the tensioner or idler pulley. Mine ended up costing me a pretty penny to diagnose, but honestly, I'd just get it to a workshop ASAP. A slipping belt can do major damage to the timing and other stuff, if it is the case. Better safe than sorry!

Your insights are invaluable. I've arranged for a diagnostic assessment. The estimated repair cost for the defective belt bringer/handover is approximately 455€. Thank you for sharing your experiences; it provided crucial context for this issue.

Oh, that sounds rough! I had something similar happen with my Mokka, though it wasn't the 'e' version. The belt tensioner went bad, and it was making this awful noise, like a constant whirring that got louder with the RPMs. Is it making any strange noises?
