Monza Jerky Acceleration Whistling Hissing

I'm having a weird issue with my 2020 Chevrolet Monza (gasoline engine). It's got about 26,663 km on it. The check engine light is on, and it feels like the car is jerking when I accelerate. Plus, I'm hearing a whistling and a loud hissing sound when I put my foot down. Sometimes it even stalls at idle, and my fuel consumption has gone way up. I feel like I have less power. I suspect it might be the boost pressure sensor, maybe a bad connection. Does this sound right?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Chevrolet Monza is experiencing jerky acceleration, a whistling and hissing sound, stalling at idle, increased fuel consumption, and reduced power, with the check engine light on. The suspected cause is a faulty boost pressure sensor or a bad connection. The issue was confirmed to be a defective connection to the boost pressure sensor, which was resolved by fixing the cable and replacing the sensor, resulting in restored vehicle performance.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Chevrolet, and those symptoms – the whistling, hissing, and jerky acceleration – are dead giveaways. It could be the boost sensor. Like a leaky faucet, even a small issue there can cause a big drop in performance.

Interesting! So, what exactly was the problem with yours? Was it the sensor itself or just a loose connection like I'm thinking? And did you notice a big difference in fuel economy after you fixed it?

Mine turned out to be the sensor and the cable. I'd say it's definitely worth getting it checked out by a professional. They can run diagnostics and pinpoint the problem for sure. It’s kind of like trying to diagnose a heart problem with a stethoscope only. You need the full ECG to see what’s really going on!

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were right, it was a defective connection to the boost pressure sensor. They fixed the cable and replaced the sensor. Total cost was 95€. Runs like new now!
