Monza Tire Pressure ABS and Steering Issues

Hey, I've got a 2020 Chevy Monza with a gasoline engine, and I'm running into a weird problem. The tire pressure low warning keeps popping up. Along with the warning, the ABS lamp lights up, the steering wheel vibrates, and it feels like the power steering is failing. I've checked the tire pressure with my tire gauge, and they seem to be inflated correctly. What gives? Anyone else experience something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Chevy Monza owner is experiencing a low tire pressure warning, ABS lamp activation, steering wheel vibration, and potential power steering failure. Despite correct tire pressure readings, these issues persist. The problem may stem from a defective tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) valve, which can cause sudden pressure loss and trigger related symptoms. The suggested solution is to have the TPMS and valve checked by a workshop, which resolved the issue in a similar case.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Interesting. I have a Monza as well, though I can't say I've seen all those symptoms together. A low tire pressure warning with ABS issues and power steering problems? Have you checked for any visible damage to the tires themselves? A slow leak could cause the pressure drop, but wouldn't explain the other issues right away.

Thanks for the quick reply! I've visually inspected the tires, and I don't see any obvious punctures or damage. If it was just a slow leak, wouldn't the tire pressure gradually decrease? The warning seems to come on pretty suddenly, and then the other symptoms appear. Is there a chance it's related to the tire pressure monitoring system itself?

Okay, sudden onset and no visible damage... sounds like you're on the right track thinking about the TPMS. The valve in the tire itself could be defective, causing a pressure loss that the system detects. Given the ABS and power steering issues cropping up simultaneously, it may be best to get it checked out by a workshop. I had something similar happen and it turned out to be that exact reason. Ended up costing 280€ to fix.

Appreciate the advice! I suspected it might be something along those lines. Based on your experience, I'll take it to a workshop and have them check the TPMS and the valve. Turns out, the valve was indeed defective. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
