Movano Automatic Transmission Issues

My 2014 Renault Movano diesel with 112377 km has the check engine light and transmission indicator on. The gearbox slips and shifts unclearly, with grinding noises during gear changes. Error memory read indicates a potential issue. Could this be a defective automatic transmission converter?

I drive a Movano as well and your description sounds awfully familiar. Is the engine surging a bit at steady speeds, almost like it can't decide what gear it wants? It definitely sounds like a torque converter fault to me, especially with the error codes you mention. Have you noticed any difference in fuel consumption?

Indeed, I have observed a slight engine surge as you described, and fuel consumption does seem marginally elevated. Given your experience, would you recommend any specific diagnostic procedures or checks I should undertake before considering a replacement?

Given those additional symptoms, I'm quite confident it's the torque converter. Unfortunately, there aren't many DIY checks you can perform to definitively confirm it. The grinding noises suggest internal damage. At this point, I'd strongly advise taking it to a reputable workshop specializing in automatic gearboxes for a professional assessment. Continuing to drive it in this condition could cause further damage.

I will heed your advice and schedule an appointment with a specialized workshop to evaluate the automatic transmission converter. I just got a quote of 2120€ for repair. Thanks again for your help.
