Movano Brake Light Error

I've got a 2007 Renault Movano, diesel engine, and the brake lights are playing up. Mileage is sitting at 75899 km. Keep getting an error stored in the memory, brake lights don't work, and the infotainment keeps throwing up an error message. I've checked the bulbs, and the fuses. Any ideas?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar gremlin with my old Vauxhall Astra a while back. Brake light switch was the culprit. Have you had a look at that? It's usually located near the brake pedal.

Brake light switch, eh? I haven't checked that specifically. Where exactly is it, and is it easy enough to get to? Any special tools needed, or is it a pretty straightforward swap?

Yep, brake light switch. On my Astra, it was right above the brake pedal, held in with a clip or maybe a small bolt. Should be an easy swap – just unplug the old one and plug in the new one. But honestly, with the Movano being a van, it might be a bit cramped under there. If you're not comfortable contorting yourself, might be worth getting a mechanic to take a quick look. Best case, 0€ cost.

Turns out you were spot on, just as you said. It was a user error and I didn't push the brake pedal far enough when re-installing. All sorted, thanks a lot!
