Movano diesel stalling and power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Renault Movano diesel is experiencing stalling at idle, reduced power, and a check engine light, leading to suspicions of a defective fuel volume regulator. Another owner with similar issues suggests that these symptoms could also be due to a defective high-pressure pump, a common problem in these vans. After taking the vehicle to a workshop, it was confirmed that the high-pressure pump was indeed defective, leading to its replacement.

Fuel efficiency seems a bit worse, yes. What was the culprit in your case?

Yeah, the fuel efficiency drop confirms my suspicions. For me, it turned out to be a defective high pressure pump. Given your mileage, it wouldn't be surprising. While it could potentially be other components, the high pressure pump failure is a common thing with these vans. I strongly suggest taking it to a reputable workshop for a proper diagnosis. They’ll be able to pinpoint the exact problem. High pressure pumps are important to regulate correct fuel amount, so if that stop regulates, a mechanic is your friend.

Thanks for the heads-up! Took it to the shop; you were right, high pressure pump was defective. Cost me 1510€ in the end, ouch!

Hi there! I've got a Movano as well, although not from 2015, and your symptoms sound very similar to what I experienced. Stalling, check engine light... those are definitely red flags. Have you noticed any difference in fuel efficiency recently? It sounds like it could be fuel injection related, potentially with the fuel regulator like you mentioned. A defective fuel regulator could cause rough idling and power loss. But did you check other things first?
