Movano Fog Sensor Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Renault Movano owner experienced issues with the air conditioning, spray nozzles freezing, and mirror heating not working, linked to a fog sensor error. The mechanic suspected a defective cable or plug connection. A similar case with an Opel Astra suggested checking for corrosion in the sensor's wiring. Cleaning the connector resolved the issues, restoring functionality to the affected systems.

Thanks! I'll definitely check the wiring for corrosion. Just to clarify, was it definitely the corroded connector that was causing all of those issues on your Astra, or could it have been something else contributing to the problem? I'm trying to understand if this one sensor could really be responsible for so much malfunctioning!

Yeah, pretty certain it was the connector. After cleaning it up everything went back to normal for me. I would start there. Otherwise, the workshop found error code DF056 and quoted me 95€ to replace my humidity sensor. If cleaning the plug doesn't work, then that might be the next step

Thanks so much! I checked the connector, gave it a good clean, and everything seems to be working now! The AC is back on, and the mirror heating is functioning too. I'm going to book the van into a garage to get this issue resolved. You potentially saved me a lot of money and time, so I really appreciate it!

That sounds eerily familiar. I had a similar saga with my old Opel Astra a few years back. Different make, but the symptoms were almost identical – AC cutting out, weird sensor errors popping up. Have you checked the sensor's wiring for any corrosion or damage? On my Astra, it ended up being a corroded connector causing all sorts of mayhem. Could be worth a look before replacing the whole sensor.
