Movano intake manifold leak

I'm experiencing difficulties with my 2019 Renault Movano diesel. At 122151 km, I've noticed jerking during acceleration, the check engine light is on, and the engine occasionally stalls at idle. Furthermore, there is reduced engine power, rough engine running, and a strong exhaust smell. An error is stored. Could these symptoms indicate a defective intake manifold?

I've experienced very similar issues with my Movano. Jerking, rough idling, and a powerful exhaust smell... It sounds like you might be dealing with a vacuum leak, possibly in the intake manifold. Think of your engine as a finely tuned orchestra; if the air intake isn't sealed properly, it's like a rogue trumpet player throwing everything off. Have you checked for any hissing sounds around the intake area? A gasket leak could also be the culprit, leading to engine misfires and poor performance.

Thank you for the quick response! I have not specifically checked for hissing sounds, but I will do so. Given your experience, do you suspect a specific area of the intake manifold is more prone to leaks? The symptoms seem to align with what you describe, however, I am a bit worried about the diagnostic effort.

In my case, the issue turned out to be scorching on the intake manifold, causing it to leak. It’s like a balloon with a tiny pinhole – hard to spot, but it gradually deflates. Given the stored error and all the symptoms, it points to a similar problem. You could try a smoke test to pinpoint the leak, but honestly, with those symptoms, especially the stalling and reduced power, I'd advise taking it to a trusted workshop.

Thank you for the additional insights and the advice. Your explanation of your experience was extremely helpful. I took the car to the mechanic, and as you suggested, the intake manifold was indeed defective due to scorching, resulting in a leak. The repair cost amounts to approximately 1180€. I appreciate your assistance!
