Movano Transfer Case Limp Mode

I'm in a pickle with my 2016 Renault Movano diesel van. It's got about 192k km on the clock and recently it's been acting up. The transfer case seems stuck in limp mode. When I'm driving, the gearbox slips and the shifts are unclean. I reckon it could be something to do with the ABS, like maybe some dodgy signals are causing the powertrain to freak out. Anyone else seen anything like this? I'm dreading taking it to a garage!

I own a Renault Movano too, and I experienced a similar issue. The symptoms you describe align with a potential problem with the ABS system triggering a consequential fault, leading to the transfer case limp mode. It's possible that a malfunctioning ABS sensor is sending incorrect data, which then affects the gearbox and overall powertrain performance.

Thanks for the reply. Could you be a bit more specific? Did you have the exact same symptoms? And how did you figure out it was the ABS? Any specific diagnostic trouble codes I should be looking for?

Yes, the symptoms were consistent with what you've described, including the gearbox slippage and unclean shifts. While I cannot provide specific diagnostic trouble codes without a proper scan, it is recommended to have a workshop perform a diagnostic assessment to confirm the source of the malfunction. It may save you significant time and potential component damage.

Right, understood. Thanks for the heads-up! It's a relief to know someone else has dealt with this before. I'll get it booked into the garage then, hopefully it won't cost too much. Turns out it was just a sensor issue, they reset it and all in it cost me absolutely nothing, I was dreading a torque converter replacement!
