MR2 Massage Seat Switch Failure

My 2004 Toyota MR2, gasoline engine, with 86086 km, has a strange quirk. The massage seat switch stopped working! The massage function refuses to switch on. I scanned it, and there's an error stored. Before I start tearing into the car upholstery, has anyone else experienced this bizarre electrical issue? Could it really just be a dodgy cable or plug connection, as the error suggests?

Interesting. I've got an MR2 myself, and I think I recall something similar happening a while back. Was the switch completely dead, no lights or anything? Or does it just not activate the massage?

Yeah, completely dead. No lights on the switch itself, nothing. Like the power supply has been cut off completely. Did yours have the same symptoms? Any pointers on where to start looking, assuming it was a simple fix?

Yep, same symptoms, switch was dead. Honestly, can't recall the exact fix, but I vaguely remember fiddling around and then giving up and taking it to a workshop in the end. They sorted it quickly enough. Maybe it's worth checking the obvious connections first, then considering a professional?

Thanks for the input! I'll double-check the connections myself, but it's probably heading to the workshop then. Just got the estimate for 95€, mentioning "Cable or plug connection of the component defective". At least I know what I'm getting into now!
