MR2 Rollover Sensor Issue

My 2006 Toyota MR2 with a gasoline engine has a rollover sensor malfunction. Error is stored, and the airbag warning lamp is on. Diagnostics suggest a defective control unit. Has anyone else seen this? Repair is about 1000€!

That sounds frustrating! I have an MR2 too, and I had something similar happen. The airbag light was on, and the system was throwing SRS sensor errors. Is the car still under warranty, like mine was?

When you say 'similar,' what were the specifics? Was it also the rollover sensor, or a different part of the SRS system? How did you resolve it?

Forgive me, I am no expert. Mine was a different sensor, not the rollover one. But the error code and warning light do point towards a faulty sensor or control unit in the SRS system. Since it wasn't the rollover sensor, I can't give specific advice. The mechanic diagnosed and replaced my faulty sensor. You should take your car to a qualified technician for inspection. Safety systems are no joke.

Thanks for sharing! I appreciate the insights. I'll schedule a workshop appointment for a comprehensive SRS diagnostic. Sounds like the only way. I'll post the resolution for other MR2 owners.
