Interesting, thanks! Was it obvious when you checked the injectors, or did you need special tools to diagnose the problem?

It wasn't immediately obvious. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They'll have the tools to properly diagnose which injector is faulty. It's a bit like trying to find a needle in a haystack without a magnet.

You were right! Took it to the shop, and it was a defective injector. Cost me 515€ to get it sorted. Runs like new now. Thanks for the tip!

I had a similar issue with my MR2. Check your injection valves/injectors. A defective injector can dump too much fuel into the cylinder. It's like trying to bake a cake with twice the sugar – it just doesn't work.
