Multi engine stalls at idle
Summary of the thread
The 2002 Nissan Multi gasoline engine stalls at idle, especially when cold, with a check engine light indicating an idle speed fault. Initial checks for vacuum leaks and throttle body cleaning did not resolve the issue. The problem was suspected to be a faulty idle air control valve. After advice, the intake manifold was found to be heavily contaminated, leading to its cleaning and the replacement of the idle air control valve, which resolved the stalling issue.

Interesting! No, I didn't specifically check for that. Is it a common issue with these engines? And how would I go about checking the intake manifold for contamination?

Well, it was on my Corsa. Turned out the buildup was messing with the airflow and causing the idle issues. I ended up taking it to a workshop, they cleaned it all out and replaced a sensor. Maybe it's worth a look for you too?

Thanks for the tip! I took your advice and checked the intake manifold – it was indeed heavily contaminated. I replaced the idle air control valve and had the intake cleaned at the workshop. Cost me around 425€, but the problem is solved! Really appreciate your help!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old 2008 Opel Corsa. The engine would randomly stall at stoplights. Did you check if the intake manifold is heavily contaminated?
