Mustang gear shift indicator issue

Hey, I'm having a nightmare with my 2018 Ford Mustang (gasoline engine). The gear shift indicator on the dash is messed up. I can't even get it into gear sometimes! It feels like the gearbox is slipping or shifting really rough, and there are awful grinding noises when it finally decides to shift. The gear selection display on the speedometer is just blank. I plugged in a code reader and it's throwing all sorts of errors. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out what's going on!

Sounds frustrating. Have you checked the transmission fluid level? Low fluid can cause similar symptoms. Also, when was the last time the transmission fluid was changed?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the fluid level myself yet, to be honest. I'm not really a mechanic, more of a 'drive it 'til it breaks' kind of guy, haha. But if the error codes point to a faulty control unit, would low fluid really cause that?

While a faulty control unit is possible, other issues can trigger related error codes. Given the symptoms you described and the error codes you mentioned, it does seem like a control unit problem is a plausible cause. I'd suggest taking it to a qualified mechanic for a proper diagnosis. They can confirm the issue and provide an accurate repair estimate.

Okay, that makes sense. I was hoping it was something simple, but it sounds like this is beyond my abilities. I'll take it to a workshop and have them take a look. Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it!
