N300 rough running and fuel consumption

Hey, I'm having some major issues with my 2017 Chevrolet N300, gasoline engine. It feels like it's drinking fuel like there's no tomorrow! I've noticed a real drop in power, the check engine light is on, and the engine is running super rough. Plus, I'm getting some serious jerking when I try to accelerate. My mileage is sitting at 179188 km. Could this be an air-fuel ratio thing? I've read about catalytic converters, intake manifolds, spark plugs and oxygen sensors... so many possibilities! What do you guys think?

Summary of the thread

The 2017 Chevrolet N300 is experiencing rough running, high fuel consumption, a drop in power, and jerking during acceleration, with the check engine light on. Possible causes include issues with the air-fuel ratio, catalytic converter, intake manifold, spark plugs, or oxygen sensors. A defective fuel injector was identified as the problem, leading to excessive fuel consumption and poor engine performance. Replacing the injector resolved the issues, restoring smooth operation.

That sounds rough. If it's running rich like you suspect, it could definitely be messing with your catalytic converter. Have you noticed any unusual smells from the exhaust? A defective injector could be the culprit, flooding the engine with fuel. It is like trying to run a marathon with weights strapped to your ankles – performance suffers.

Thanks for the quick reply! No strange smells, but it's interesting you mention the injectors. Is there any way to check them myself, or am I just asking for trouble messing with that?

While there are DIY injector tests, improper handling can lead to bigger issues. Think of it like performing surgery on yourself – you might know the basics, but a professional is better equipped. Given all the symptoms, a defective injector sounds plausible. At this point, I'd advise getting it checked at a workshop. You risk damaging other components if you continue driving it in this condition.

Appreciate the advice! Workshop it is. Turns out it WAS a defective injector. Cost me 515€ to replace, but she's running smooth again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
