Navara ABS Speed Signal Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Nissan Navara is experiencing a speed signal fault, causing the ABS light to illuminate and traction issues, rendering the ABS system non-functional. A diagnostic check indicates a defective ABS control unit as the potential cause. While a faulty speed sensor was suggested as a possible issue, the diagnosis points to a more significant problem with the control unit, likely requiring professional repair or replacement.

The diagnostic suggests the ABS control unit itself is faulty. The speed sensor signal seems to be the root cause, but it looks like it's messing with the whole system. Did you get the same diagnosis, or did you just replace the sensor?

Ah, right, mine was just the sensor. If the diagnostic is pointing at the whole unit being defective, it's likely a bigger problem. Replacing the ABS control unit can be a pain, and it might need coding. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop, sounds like you're past the point of simple fixes.

I feared as much. Workshop it is then. They've quoted around 1000€ for a replacement and fitting, which stings, but at least it should sort it. Appreciate the help!

I had similar issues with my Navara! ABS light, the whole shebang. Have you checked the transmission input speed sensor? That was the culprit in my case. Where's the diagnostic pointing exactly?
